As mentioned in the June Flashpage, MVI has released 5 new products in the Bereavement area. Bereavement is one of the most underutilized and potentially value-adding areas a hospice can develop. These offerings introduce viewpoints that are uncommon in the hospice world but will vastly expand the care options for the bereaved, decreasing suffering and increasing the efficiency of the transcendence process simultaneously. The products are:
- Bereavement & the Model Video/DVD – This video is available on the MVI portal AND a DVD is being mailed to all Network clients before the end of July. It introduces a vast array of additional treatment options that can exponentially increase the effectiveness of the bereavement function.
- Bereavement ~ An Interview with Travis Smith – This DVD is a conversation with Travis Smith of Hospice of Rutherford County (a super hospice) regarding their approach to bereavement. This interview is included on the DVD.
- An Interview with Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Bob Monroe and Dr. Charles Tart Regarding Hemi-Sync® and the Going Home Series – This insightful and meaningful interview from 1993 with these three pioneers explores the discoveries and uses of Hemi-Sync® with those that are dying, as well as with caregivers. It will stir thoughts and bring us back to why we are involved in this important work of hospice.
- Relaxation and Comfort – This product is a collaborative effort of MVI and Monroe Products, creators of the scientifically and clinically proven audio technology Hemi-Sync®, and is designed specifically for hospice patients and caregivers. The purpose of this technology is to facilitate relaxation and sometimes facilitate direct experiences that can greatly lessen physical as well as psychosocial pain. This product uses the complex and multi-layered tones without any verbal guidance.
- Ocean Surf - This product is a collaborative effort of MVI and Monroe Products, creators of the scientifically and clinically proven audio technology Hemi-Sync®, and is designed specifically for hospice patients and caregivers. The purpose of this technology is to facilitate relaxation and sometimes facilitate direct experiences that can greatly lessen physical as well as psychosocial pain. This product uses the complex and multi-layered tones without any verbal guidance and incorporates the soothing sounds of the ocean surf…a familiar sound with natural Hemi-Sync®-like calming effects.
Regarding the Monroe products, I would recommend that a hospice that is interested in vastly increasing the effectiveness of bereavement, purchase a copy of Relaxation and Comfort, Ocean Surf, a SleepPhones headset and a SleepSonic Pillow. Then test the technology with patients and caregivers, introducing it with confidence. I think you will be surprised how receptive people will be and how it will make them feel. Then, if you like the results, purchase a copy of the Going Home Series that Elisabeth Kübler-Ross helped create. This is a small investment that could have HUGE benefits for the patients and families that your hospice serves. These products, along with other techniques and technologies helped me immensely with my own series of losses. I suspect your hospice will be positively impacted as well.
